Carmel Financial
Capabilities Brochure
Carmel Financial is a consumer products finance company whose tagline is "We make it possible," with the image of a window in their logo. This "window of possibilities" theme was incorporated into the brochure by photographing an actual window. Other iconic and slightly whimsical items reflect the headlines of each page, adding some visual interest to a subject matter that can be very dry.
To reinforce the "opening up of possibilities" concept, each brochure was wrapped in a dark blue uncoated stock that was sealed with a sticker with "We make it..." printed on it, while the last word, "possible," was revealed on the front cover of the brochure, once the wrap was removed.

Encore Vocal Arts
Season Brochure
Encore Vocal Arts is an auditioned chamber choir that performs a wide variety of music to "educate and inspire." The Encore Vocal Arts brochure was designed to reflect their sophisticated approach and used design elements to reflect the characteristics of music. Leaning heavily on black and white reflects the very essence of sheet music as well as the dress of classical musicians. The brochure also included a tear-off order form for ordering tickets.
Christel House
Christel House Open Sponsor Brochure
Christel House's goal is "helping children around the world break the cycle of poverty." The Christel House Open is a charity golf tournament that takes place on multiple golf courses around the world, all on the same day. The brochure was aimed at a very small group of people: potential sponsors. Less than 50 brochures were digitally printed. The interior pages of the brochure were printed on heavy stock and spiral-bound. The inside signature was then affixed inside a hardbound front and back cover.
The graphic concept of the piece focused on "numbers" as both a message and graphic element. This allowed the text to mention charity and media exposure statistics as well as golf course information - all given a golf score treatment.

Firestone
Pondgard Brochure
Pondgard is a rubber product made by Firestone and is used to line high-end decorative ponds. This brochure was meant to be used by dealers and included a dealer imprint area on the back. With a limited budget and less-than-perfect supplied photography, a more illustrative approach was taken. A Koi fish and lilly pads were illustrated for the front cover since Koi are commonly kept in decorative ponds in which a Pondgard liner would be used. This is a good example of illustrating what the product makes possible versus showing the actual product, which in this case, is of little visual interest.
The Polis Center
Prologue Series Brochure
This particular volume in the Prologue Series from The Polis Center focused on "Religion in the Shaping of 20th Century America." This was by nature, a copy-heavy piece with a very limited budget, resulting in a two-color printing. A classic treatment was given to the body text for easy readability and to represent the serious nature of the subject matter. To create visual interest and break up the text, unique type treatments were given to the subheads, using different type fonts, sizes and screen values/combinations. Small architectural elements relating to the subject matter were also introduced as design elements.
